The inspiration for these lovely color collages comes from Mrs. Knight's Smartest Artists. On day one, I asked my students to think of a color they would enjoy illustrating. We spent a lot of time talking about how to go about this and I demonstrated quite a bit. We folded a piece of drawing paper in half two times to create four rectangles - the perfect drawing space to create four illustrations to represent the chosen color. Sharpie and crayon were used to finish. On day two, students glued their illustrations onto a matching piece of construction paper. I made a sheet of alphabet letters for them to use so they could spell out their color for the center of the collage. This was a nice way to emphasize and pull it all together with a literacy connection. The last step was to add a border around the edge and the color word to jazz it all up!
They turned out really cute! LOVE the fonts.
