About Mrs. Kim

I am originally from Richmond, Indiana (a true Hoosier girl at heart). Both of my parents are teachers as well as my sister and many of my extended family. I am the eldest of three children and grew up loving and appreciating art (thanks in large part to my father who is an abstract wood sculptor). I graduated from Purdue University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications Design and a Minor in Dance. In 2004, I received my post-baccalaureate degree in Art Education. The 2018-2019 school year marks my thirteenth year teaching art. Originally, my career as a teacher began as a high school dance teacher in Indiana. I then spent 10 years honing my craft as an art teacher in Fulton County, GA - now I am an art educator in the beautiful state of Virginia.

Below is the classroom where it all started for me 10 years ago - it was also the catalyst for the name of my prior blog (which you might know), Art in the Big Green Room. It will always hold a special place in my art teaching heart!
