Kindergarten Mouse Shapes & Mouse Colors

My Kindergartners just finished this great project featuring the books, Mouse Shapes and Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh. Literature is a great springboard for our art making. These compositions were completed over a two day period.

During day one, students built the mice using shapes and added detail using black crayon. I will be the first to admit, it is time intensive for the teacher because pre-tracing all the circles and triangle shapes for the kids to cut from is a must. It's well worth it though.....

Day two consisted of learning about proper brush technique and etiquette while learning about the primary and secondary colors. The squeals of delight as new colors were made never gets old in my book!
