2nd grade clay CATS

This was a great project....and the 2nd graders really enjoyed the subject matter! Some kids went the realistic route while others made their cat more into a character. I think this lesson will be a keeper. Students learned about slab construction to build them. They also learned about clay processing techniques (a fancy word for scratch and attach) to make all the facial details stay put. The final touch for these felines is the glazed surface design. Meeowwww.....

  1. These are really cute - they remind me of Warhol's cats! Did you know all of his cats were named Sam?

    2. Thanks so much, Mary!! This was a long project due to winter weather interruptions, so I'm very happy they turned out. It was kind of never ending :)
