2nd grade Jasper Johns Numbers

This is one of those projects that always turns out spectacular (in my humble opinion). My second graders completed this project for our school-wide art show and they were a hit! We learned about warm and cool color families in order to fill our compositions with color ("ghost lines" were added to the background in white oil pastel before painting). Students had to take ownership for the numbers they chose to highlight in their work by making sure that each number represented them in some special way.

  2. I just discovered your wonderful blog. I have two granddaughters and when they come to visit they always want to make art with grandma. Your blog is so jam packed with creative ideas. I am so impressed and I just want to thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world. I was an art teacher for 5th and 6th grade and also taught preschool for ten years, but that was along time ago (when my daughter was young). I'm really looking forward to going through all of your archives. You are a blessing. Your newest follower, Connie :) I would also like to invite you to come visit my blog, maybe you'll even decide to follow.
