4th Grade Mexican Clay Suns & 5th Grade Face Jugs

Clay with 4th and 5th grade is always a little more strenuous, especially because we have the privilege of working with glazes. This year, we used Mayco Stroke and Coat colors. They aren't cheap, but they do work great. Just two coats of glaze is all you need for a beautiful and shiny piece. I really emphasized to students to put up to three coats of glaze if time allowed to make their pieces even more awesome.
4th grade learned about Mexican folk art and created ceramic suns. 5th grade learned about the face jug tradition in Georgia known as "ugly jugs." Both of these projects are quite a hit with the kids!
